Where should I go on a rainy day?
There are indoor spots in the Lake Kawaguchiko area that you can enjoy even on rainy days.
Art Museums and Museums
The Itchiku Kubota Art Museum is especially recommended. This museum displays the works of Itchiku Kubota, a textile artist who revived the legendary dyeing technique known as “Tsujigahana.” It received three stars in the 2009 Michelin Green Guide Japan. You can spend a relaxing time indoors while appreciating wonderful art, and also enjoy the garden and tea room.

Access: From Kawaguchiko Station, take the sightseeing bus, Red Line, for about 20 to 25 minutes and get off at “Itchiku Kubota Art Museum.”
If you want to learn about Mt. Fuji, the Yamanashi Prefectural Fujisan World Heritage Center in Fujikawaguchiko Town and Fujisan Museum in Fujiyoshida City are also recommended.
Hot Springs
On rainy days, relaxing at a hot spring is also a good option. Fujiyama Onsen is a traditional Japanese-style natural hot spring located next to Fuji-Q Highland, and morning baths are available from 6:30 a.m.
⚠️ Some facilities do not allow guests with tattoos to enter the baths, or allow entry only under certain conditions. Please be sure to check directly with each facility before visiting.
Experiences
A hoto-making experience is popular as an indoor activity where you can enjoy Yamanashi’s local cuisine. It is an easy activity to enjoy even on rainy days.
Shopping
For families with children or those who want to do a little shopping on a rainy day, Kawaguchiko Shopping Center Bell is also convenient. It is a large shopping center with a supermarket, specialty shops, restaurants, and more.
