On Saturday, July 25, 2026, we took a ride on the new Oishi Park Line aboard the Ensoleille, which connects Funatsu Pier near Kawaguchiko Station with Oishi Park.
This new route began operating on July 17, 2026, and is attracting attention as a new way to travel from Kawaguchiko Station to Oishi Park.
In this article, we explain how to get from Kawaguchiko Station to Oishi Park, based on our actual experience aboard the boat.

What Is Oishi Park?
Oishi Park is located on the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchi. It is a popular destination visited by many travelers from Japan and overseas, and is well known as a photography spot offering panoramic views of both Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi.
The park is becoming especially popular among international visitors because it offers the opportunity to photograph Mt. Fuji together with seasonal flowers.
How to Get from Kawaguchiko Station to Oishi Park
There are three main ways to travel from Kawaguchiko Station to Oishi Park.
1. Take a Local Bus
Take the Kawaguchiko Sightseeing Bus, also known as the Omni Bus, from Kawaguchiko Station and get off at the Oishi Park bus stop.
This is the most common way to get there. However, buses can become extremely crowded on weekends and during peak sightseeing seasons.
Long lines may form at the bus stop, and passengers may not be able to board their preferred service.
We recommend allowing plenty of extra time.
2. Rent a Bicycle
Another option is to rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in front of Kawaguchiko Station and cycle to Oishi Park along the lakeside cycling route.
Oishi Park is approximately 6.5 km from Kawaguchiko Station, and the journey takes around 30 minutes.
3. Take the New Ensoleille Sightseeing Boat

The new Oishi Park Line aboard the Ensoleille began operating on July 17, 2026.
It allows passengers to travel from Funatsu Pier, within walking distance of Kawaguchiko Station, to the Oishi Park area while enjoying views of Mt. Fuji from the lake.
It is a new and distinctive alternative to traveling by bus or bicycle.
We took the route ourselves and have shared our experience below.
Looking for the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway?
Funatsu Pier is located very close to the boarding area for the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway. It is also the departure point for the Lake Kawaguchi sightseeing boat Appare.
The ropeway itself does not provide direct access to Oishi Park. However, by purchasing the sightseeing boat and ropeway combination ticket described below, you can enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Fuji from the ropeway and travel to Oishi Park by boat using a single ticket.
Experience Report: From Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko Station and Funatsu Pier
From Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko Station
For this trip, we traveled from Shinjuku by highway bus.
Partway through the journey, magnificent views of Mt. Fuji began to appear through the bus windows.
Although the bus arrived approximately 60 minutes late because of weekend traffic congestion, we reached Kawaguchiko Station at around 10:00 a.m. under clear blue skies.
Walking from Kawaguchiko Station to Funatsu Pier
After getting off the highway bus, head first toward the Funatsu area on the shore of Lake Kawaguchi.
It takes approximately 10 minutes to walk from Kawaguchiko Station to the lakeside.
From there, continue walking along the shore for approximately five minutes to reach Funatsu Pier, where the Oishi Park Line aboard the Ensoleille departs.
Funatsu Pier is the same boarding location as the Lake Kawaguchi sightseeing boat Appare and is located very close to the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway station.

How to Buy Tickets and Fare Information
At the ticket machine at Funatsu Pier, you can purchase two types of tickets:
Lake Kawaguchi sightseeing cruise tickets
Tickets to Oishi Park
When traveling to Oishi Park, select the option marked “To Oishi Park.”
On the day of our visit, a staff member was standing near the ticket machine and helped passengers purchase their tickets.
The machine supports English and several other languages, so tickets can be purchased easily even if you do not speak Japanese.
Payment options included cash, WeChat Pay, and credit cards.

By purchasing the round-trip boat and ropeway combination ticket, adults save JPY 500 and children save JPY 250.
We also recommend taking the ropeway to enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Fuji before traveling to Oishi Park.
The JPY 3,300 combination ticket, which includes a one-way boat ride, the ropeway, and the sightseeing bus, also allows you to enjoy the ropeway and Oishi Park before returning to Kawaguchiko Station by sightseeing bus while exploring the Lake Kawaguchi area.
For this trip, we started with the simple one-way adult boat ticket for JPY 1,000.
Time to Board! A 15-Minute Ride aboard the Ensoleille
The boat was scheduled to depart at 10:45 a.m., and boarding began at 10:40 a.m.
The boat has two levels.
After boarding and going down a short staircase, you will find indoor seating on the lower deck.
The upper level is an open-air outdoor deck, reached by going upstairs.
From the outdoor deck, we enjoyed a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji on the left-hand side.
The boat departed on time at 10:45 a.m.
Announcements were provided in Japanese, English, and Chinese, making the service easy and reassuring for international visitors to use.
The weather was perfectly clear, and Mt. Fuji looked especially beautiful from the lake.
Photographing Mt. Fuji from the boat offered truly spectacular views.
As it was a weekend, long lines had formed at the local bus stops in front of Kawaguchiko Station. However, there were relatively few passengers on the boat, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing journey.
This new boat route is particularly recommended for travelers who wish to avoid the crowds when traveling to Oishi Park.
As we enjoyed the views of Mt. Fuji from the lake, an announcement informed us that we would soon be arriving.
We reached Oishi Park at 11:00 a.m.
Although the journey took only 15 minutes, it was extremely comfortable and highly enjoyable.
The view of Mt. Fuji after arriving at Oishi Park was also magnificent.
One of the park’s greatest attractions is the opportunity to photograph Mt. Fuji together with seasonal flowers.
